As the founders of Out A Here Travel, we have traveled all over the map—from the wild frontiers of Alaska down to the sunny coasts of Florida. We are also annual pass holders at Disney. We visit the parks continuously, and people constantly ask us how we don't get totally bored doing the same rides over and over again.
The secret is surprisingly simple: we rarely spend our entire day waiting in line for theme park rides. When you visit Disney as an adult, a whole new landscape of entertainment opens up. You don't have to rush from attraction to attraction. Instead, you can pop into a park for four hours in the evening, grab a world-class dinner, and enjoy some fantastic live music.
If you want to experience a completely different side of Orlando, grab your bags. We are going to show you exactly how to do Disney like an adult.
Beyond the Theme Parks: A World of Adult-Friendly ActivitiesYou could easily spend an entire week on Disney property without ever stepping foot on a traditional roller coaster. The resort areas and entertainment districts offer a massive variety of laid-back, grown-up activities.

Disney Springs: Shopping, Dining, and EntertainmentDisney Springs is a massive, sprawling complex dedicated entirely to incredible food, boutique shopping, and live entertainment. You can easily park your car here and use the incredibly convenient bus system to hop around to the different resort hotels for dinner. Exploring the various resort lobbies and lounges is an activity all on its own, offering spectacular architecture and high-end cocktails without the hustle and bustle of the main parks.

Golfing & Water Parks
If you want to enjoy the beautiful Florida weather, you have plenty of outdoor options. Disney boasts several premier golf courses designed for serious players. If you want something a bit more casual but still highly engaging, you have to check out their unique miniature golf courses. Forget the goofy windmills and clown mouths. These courses feature actual putting green scenarios complete with tricky corners and sand traps.
When things get a bit too hot, you can easily cool off at Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. These water parks are fantastic places to rent a shaded cabana, grab a cold drink, and float down the lazy river for hours.

Epcot at Night: A Culinary and Cultural Journey
Epcot completely transforms when the sun goes down. Exploring the World Showcase in the evening is easily one of our favorite things to do. It becomes a massive, interactive cultural festival where you get to decide if your night begins in Canada, Mexico, or somewhere in between.

International Dining
The restaurant selection inside Epcot is absolutely phenomenal. You can sit down for an incredible steak dinner in Canada, or venture over to the Chinese pavilion for some authentic cuisine. From British pub fare to incredible Italian dishes, the dining options cater beautifully to an adult palate.

Enjoying Adult Beverages
Walking around the World Showcase with a fantastic cocktail or a cold brew in hand is a staple of the adult Disney experience. I personally love stopping by the Rose & Crown Pub in the UK pavilion to grab a perfectly poured Guinness. Michelle usually opts for a specialty adult cocktail, and we will happily stroll through the different countries.
If you prefer wine and champagne, the France pavilion has you covered. By the time we make our way around to Germany, I am usually ready to grab a classic Dunkel beer. The temperatures drop, the crowds shift, and right around 9:15 PM, the sky lights up with a spectacular evening fireworks show. It is the absolute perfect way to end the day.

You do not need to look very hard to find romance and incredible nightlife scattered throughout the Disney property.

Jazz and beignets at Port Orleans
One of our absolute favorite date nights starts right at Disney Springs. You can hop on a relaxing boat ride down the canal that takes you directly to the Port Orleans resort. On Friday and Saturday nights, the resort hosts fantastic live jazz music. Last month, we grabbed some fresh, warm beignets, ordered a couple of cocktails, and sat back to listen to an incredibly talented fusion jazz band. It feels like you have been transported straight to New Orleans.

Hollywood Studios After Dark
Hollywood Studios brings a heavy dose of nostalgia and old-school California charm. At night, the neon lights click on, the classic music plays through the streets, and you get the distinct vibe of historic Hollywood and Vine. We love stopping by the Baseline Tap House. You can sit on the outdoor patio, share a massive charcuterie board, and sample some great California brews.
Afterward, we like to walk over to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Even if you are not a massive sci-fi fan, the immersion is incredible. The lighting, the sound effects, and the sheer scale of the Millennium Falcon glowing in the dark make for a fantastic evening stroll.

Relaxation and Recreation at Disney Resorts
Taking an adult vacation means you dictate the schedule. There is zero pressure to wake up at the crack of dawn to beat the crowds.
If you want to maintain your fitness routine, the resorts offer beautiful, scenic running tracks. You can spend the entire afternoon lounging by the resort pool with a good book, soaking up the sun, and completely unwinding. Once you feel fully rested, you can casually get dressed and head out for an evening excursion to Epcot or Disney Springs for dinner. It is a completely stress-free way to vacation.

Culinary Delights at Disney Springs
Speaking of dinner, we have to talk a bit more about the food scene at Disney Springs. There are four or five different venues where you can simply walk around and listen to live music playing in the background.
You can grab an iced tea, a specialty coffee, or a craft cocktail while you browse the incredible snack options.

You have to try the famous, half-pound cookies from Gideon's Bakehouse. If you want something cold, there are fantastic ice cream parlors. They even have a shop dedicated to giant, over-the-top donuts. You will absolutely not go hungry here.

Planning your Adult Disney Adventure
Doing Disney as an adult is all about how you plan it. That is exactly where Out A Here Travel steps in. We specialize in sitting down with you, having a relaxed conversation, and designing a trip that perfectly matches your vacation style.
We can even help you look beyond the Disney property. Orlando has a massive variety of entertainment options. If you are a basketball fan, we can easily work an Orlando Magic game into your itinerary. During soccer season, you can head downtown to watch the professional men's or women's teams play. There is a vibrant city waiting to be explored right outside the theme park gates.

Ready for your Grown-Up Orlando Vacation
Disney provides a truly spectacular environment for couples looking to get away, eat amazing food, and have a genuinely great time. I’ve got stories from our trip, some juicy details on new airport terminals (yes, you read that right), and the inside scoop on Black Friday travel deals you won’t want to miss. So, grab a drink and let’s get into it.

Airport Shenanigans: What's New in Pittsburgh & Key West Airports

Traveling is an adventure, and sometimes that adventure starts before you even get on the plane. We flew from Pittsburgh down to Key West, and both airports have had some serious glow-ups since our last visit.

Navigating the New Pittsburgh Airport Terminal.

So, you know the old routine at Pittsburgh International Airport? Park in extended parking, walk into the terminal, ride the escalator, take the train across to the outbound gates. Yeah, forget all of that. It's gone.

Last week, they opened the brand-new terminal, and it’s a whole different ballgame. If you’re parking in the extended lots, you can’t just walk over anymore. They have shuttle buses that loop around the lots—I saw about five different shuttle stations—and take you directly to the new terminal entrance. We stood at station three for maybe 10 minutes before a bus came by.

A heads-up: don’t try to go the old way. We saw some confused people. The old train is no longer in use for passengers. The good news? The new system is pretty smooth. Once the shuttle drops you off, you walk right in. The TSA line on a Friday was maybe 20 minutes, tops.

If you want to skip the shuttle entirely, they now have a new short-term parking garage that’s within walking distance. You’ll pay a bit more for the convenience, but it’s an option if you don’t want to mess with the bus. Just watch the signs as you drive in.
The Key West Airpot Gets an Update

Key West International Airport has also changed, and I have mixed feelings about it. I kind of miss the old-school charm—getting off the plane onto the tarmac, walking past those quirky Southernmost Buoy characters, and trying to sneak a picture before getting yelled at.

Now, it’s a more traditional airport. You deplane via a jet bridge (the extractable walkway thingy) and head into a modern, two-story terminal. They’ve got about four restaurants now, and for all you caffeine addicts, yes, there is a Starbucks right as you get off the plane. You can get your fix before you even go downstairs to baggage claim.

Downstairs is where you’ll find the familiar ground floor for arrivals and departures. Taxis are lined up right outside, and the Lyft/Uber pickup area is a short walk down the sidewalk. Our taxi fare to Old Town was about $18, which is pretty standard.

Getting through security on our way home was a breeze. We got there an hour early for our 11:30 AM flight and walked right through TSA. It left us just enough time to grab breakfast and an adult beverage before boarding. The new terminal is beautiful, but a little piece of that quirky Key West welcome is now a fond memory.

Black Friday Cruise Deals Are Here!

Thanksgiving week isn't just about turkey and family time. It’s also the kickoff for Black Friday sales, and the travel industry is going all out. Forget waking up at midnight to stand in line; these deals are live right now.

I just got off a training call with Celebrity Cruise Lines, and their offer is one of the best I’ve seen. They’re running a buy one, get one 75% off special. Plus, on select sailings, the third and fourth guests in a stateroom could be free. This sale runs until about December 7th.

Almost every cruise line, from AmaWaterways to Royal Caribbean and Cunard, has a promotion running. These deals pop up fast and often have deadlines in early December, so you have to be ready to act.

Why You Should Call a Travel Advisor (Like, Right Now)

You might see these Black Friday deals online and think, "I can just book this myself." And you can, but let me give you the inside scoop. Booking direct isn't always the best deal.

When you book online, you often get a non-refundable fare and very little choice in your cabin location. You’re just another click in their system.
Here’s where a travel advisor comes in. We have access to perks and pricing that you’ll never find on a consumer website.

Group Pricing: I recently booked two families on an Alaska cruise. The cruise line was advertising a BOGO special, but I was able to beat that price using our agency's group rates—which aren't available to the public. It ended up being a much better deal, especially for a family of four, since many BOGO deals are strictly for double occupancy.

Extra Perks: Cruise lines give us incentives to sell their cruises. This can translate into onboard credit, specialty dining vouchers, or other special touches that you don't get when booking direct.

Flexibility & Expertise: We can often find refundable options versus non-refundable ones. Need cabins next to each other for a big family trip? We know how to work the system to make that happen. I was able to get three out of four cabins together for that Alaska group, something that’s nearly impossible to coordinate on your own.

I’m not saying it's a guarantee every time, but working with an advisor gives you access to a whole other level of options and value.

Let’s Get Your Next Adventure Booked

Whether you’re dreaming of Alaska in 2026, Key West next spring, or a European river cruise, the time to plan is now. These deals are hot, and popular destinations are filling up fast. I was looking at Alaska cruises for July, and the interior cabins are already getting scarce.

Here’s what you can do:

Visit us at outaheretravel.com and sign up for our newsletter to get deals and tips sent directly to your inbox.

Schedule a free consultation. Let’s have a real conversation about what you want to do. No obligations, just a chat to figure out your travel dreams.

Let us do the work. Once you’re in our system, we can keep an eye out for deals that match your interests. When a sale like this Black Friday event pops up, we can get you booked and ready to go.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Enjoy the week, be thankful for your blessings, and when you’re ready to travel, give us a shout.

November 2, 2025 - This week in Travel

https://www.outaheretravel.com/blog/november-2-2025-this-week-in-travel

https://www.outaheretravel.com/blog/november-2-2025-this-week-in-travel#comments

Weekly Travel Chat

Your Weekly Roundup of Travel News & Tips Hello, fellow travelers! This week is packed with news from Cunard, Disney, and some important considerations for your next cruise.

Cunard's Queen Elizabeth Sets Sail for Its Final Alaska SeasonIf an Alaskan cruise aboard a classic, elegant ship is on your bucket list, now is the time to act. Cunard Lines has announced that 2026 will be the final season for its magnificent Queen Elizabeth ship in the Alaskan market. Starting in 2027, this beautiful vessel will spend its summers in the Mediterranean.
What does this mean for you? It's your last chance to experience the unique blend of British refinement and Alaskan wilderness that only Cunard can offer.

The Queen Elizabeth Experience:
This ship is a fantastic choice for travelers over 50 who appreciate a more relaxed, sophisticated cruise experience. It’s less about high-energy activities and more about savoring the journey. Here’s what makes it special:

Relaxed Ambiance: Forget the hustle and bustle. This is about sitting back with a loved one, enjoying impeccable customer service, and soaking in the scenery. Think traditional cruising with ballroom dancing and elegant evenings.

Exceptional Food: From fine dining to the famous afternoon tea at four o'clock, the culinary quality is a highlight that guests rave about.

Longer Port Stays: Cunard often schedules its itineraries with late arrivals and early departures to avoid the busiest times in port, giving you more time to explore.

Enriching Guest Speakers: As you sail through majestic Glacier Bay—a must-see on any Southeast Alaska cruise—onboard experts will share insights into the region's native heritage and geology.

This cruise is not geared toward young families. If you’re traveling with grandkids, you might prefer a ship with more kid-focused activities. But for a couple looking for a refined, peaceful getaway, the Queen Elizabeth is perfect.

Cunard Voyage Details and a Can't-Miss Sale:

Itinerary: Round-trip sailings from Seattle, Washington, running from May to September 2026.

Duration: Voyages range from 7 to 12 days, allowing you to choose between a quick glimpse or a comprehensive tour of Southeast Alaska's ports.

Black Friday Sale: Mark your calendars! From November 12th through December 3rd, Cunard is holding a massive sale on over 100 destinations, including these final Alaska sailings. Expect fare discounts, onboard credits, and special perks for Grill Suite guests.

Don't let this opportunity sail away. If a Cunard cruise to Alaska has been on your mind, this is the year to book it. Let's talk and get it planned.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party:
A Foodie's Guide as soon as Halloween ends, Disney works its magic, and the parks transform into a winter wonderland overnight. This year, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is introducing over 40 new menu items, and as someone who was just there, I can tell you the festive spirit is already in the air!

The party is a special ticketed event that takes place after regular park hours, typically from 4 p.m. onwards. It’s a magical experience with snow falling on Main Street, exclusive parades, and spectacular fireworks.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the delicious treats you can find:

Casey's Corner: Try the Holiday Pot Roast Hotdog, topped with beer-cheese sauce and crispy onions.

Plaza Ice Cream Parlor: Indulge in a Santa's Hat Brownie Sundae or a festive Gingerbread Milkshake.

Columbia Harbour House: Enjoy hearty Orange-Glazed Chicken Strips.

Specialty Restaurants: Cinderella's Royal Table and Be Our Guest Restaurant will feature special holiday menus with items like lamb chops and caramelized apple tarts.

Many of these treats are only available during the party, so you'll need that special ticket. And trust me, with so many options, you might need to attend more than once to try them all! If you're thinking about a Disney trip, Michele is our resident expert. We can help you book your resort, tickets, and of course, your spot at the Christmas party.

Destination of the Week:
Rocky Mountaineer's Southwest Route. While many know the Rocky Mountaineer for its breathtaking Canadian train journeys, the company has expanded into the United States with a stunning Southwest route: "Rockies to the Red Rocks." This is an incredible way to celebrate America's beauty, especially with the country's 250th anniversary coming up on July 4th, 2026.

This journey takes you from Denver, Colorado, to Moab, Utah, with stops in Glenwood Springs. You can even add an extension to Salt Lake City.

Why Take the Train?
Imagine relaxing in a glass-dome railcar, enjoying gourmet meals, and watching the dramatic landscapes of the American West unfold. The route travels through iconic scenery, including:

Ruby Canyon: Marvel at the stunning red rock walls carved by the Colorado River.

Mount Garfield: See the distinctive flat-topped peak as you travel through Colorado.

Moffat Tunnel: Journey through this historic engineering marvel under the Continental Divide.

You don't have to worry about driving or logistics. Just sit back and let the scenery captivate you.

Extend Your Adventure: The real magic of this trip is the ability to connect with America's most treasured national parks. You can create a longer itinerary that includes visits to the "Mighty Five" in Utah:

Arches National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park

Canyonlands National Park

Capitol Reef National Park

Zion National Park

We can arrange hotel packages, day tours, and local activities so you can get off the train and immerse yourself in these incredible landscapes. For any photographers out there, the sunrise and sunset opportunities are simply exceptional. It's an unforgettable adventure that combines the romance of train travel with the grandeur of the Southwest.

Travel Tips:
As your travel agent, my job is to make your trips as smooth and stress-free as possible. Here are a couple of important tips to keep in mind for your next vacation.

Decoding Cruise Line Drink Packages. If you're a regular cruiser, you've probably noticed that drink packages are changing. Lines like Princess and Royal Caribbean have recently updated their offerings, and it’s worth taking a closer look before you automatically add one to your booking.

Here’s what’s happening:

More Complexity: Some packages are becoming so intricate that you practically need a spreadsheet to figure out if they’re worth it. Pay attention to what’s included—does it cover drinks on the cruise line’s private island? How many drinks per day are allowed?

Rising Costs: Like everything else, prices are increasing. Do a quick calculation of your likely consumption to see if a package will save you money.

Expanding Options: In response to changing trends, cruise lines are expanding their non-alcoholic offerings. You'll now find packages that include specialty coffees (lattes, cappuccinos), mocktails, and non-alcoholic beers.

The bottom line? Don't assume the package you bought last year is the same this year. Read the fine print to understand what you're getting. Alternatively, some lines offer a prepaid bar tab, which might be a simpler and more flexible option.

The Unskippable Step: Travel Insurance! talk about this a lot, and for good reason. Travel insurance is one of the most important parts of planning a trip. It's about risk avoidance. Life happens—flights get delayed, health issues pop up, or a family emergency can force you to cancel. For those of us over 50, this is especially critical. Your regular health insurance may not cover you if you have a medical emergency abroad or on a cruise ship. An emergency airlift can cost a fortune, and you don’t want to be caught unprepared.

When you book with me, I'll always recommend travel insurance. It’s not just about protecting my business; it’s about protecting you and your investment. These trips are expensive, and insurance provides peace of mind, allowing you to relax and enjoy yourself, knowing you're covered if the unexpected happens.

Let's Plan Your Next Adventure! I hope this week's roundup has sparked some ideas for your travel dream board. Whether it's the last call for a Cunard cruise in Alaska, a festive trip to Disney, or a train journey through the red rocks of the Southwest, the world is waiting for you.

My goal is to reduce your stress and handle all the details, from packing lists to transportation, so you can focus on what matters: making memories!

Ready to start planning?
