I always want my Disney experience to be ... magical. Part of that is where I choose to stay while visiting. You never can go wrong staying on a Disney property. But, do you consider the Value resorts first? I guess I am a frugal traveler, which is why they are always my first choice.
As a rule, we never really spend too much time in our rooms, which means, I don't spend a lot of money on my rooms. But, I want comfort, value, and fun where I stay. My first choice at Disney? The All-Star Resorts. They have amazing theming and the rooms are very comfortable.
Which One Will You Choose?
There are three different complexes in this category. There are Movies, Music, and Sports. Interesting fact... for a romantic getaway choose Music. The Jazz and Broadway areas tend to attract more couples than families. These resorts are in the Animal Kingdom area, so very centrally located to the parks and Disney Springs.
All-Star Music does offer family suites, which have a separate bedroom, kitchenette, and living room. If you happen to be traveling with extra family members. This offers space and privacy. Plus, my favorite part? Two bathrooms. Yep, very unusual to see a one-bedroom suite with two bathrooms, but I love the extra space these family suites offer.
Only two of you traveling? No problem, the rooms have space and storage. The bathrooms have plenty of space for your stuff and inside the room you have a table with chairs to let you spread out a bit. The one downside? No private outdoor space. But, there are benches throughout the resort you can sit on and enjoy a cup of coffee or other beverage. Plus at night, the resorts are nicely light to allow nice, evening strolls after returning from the parks.
We have even picnicked at the outside tables by the food court. At night, they are not used much and you can sit down, listen to the sounds of the pool and enjoy a cold beverage from the pool bar or a snack from the food court.
Where to Eat?
One of my favorite tips is to order a kid's meal at the food court. You get a ton of food for the price. Plus, you get a drink and a snack (think a small bottle of water and a package of fruit). Can't beat that. Plus the best part? The meals are cheaper than the adult version, yet you get a lot of food.
I think any way you can save on food and your hotel room, then frees your budget for fun at the parks and lots and lots of shopping... right?
Imagine, you can pick up a pizza from the take out window and head either back to your room or by the pool for a great lunch or dinner. Just because these resorts offer a food court option don't think you will have limited choices. These food courts offer so many choices. In the morning you can get a hearty breakfast, or simply a yogurt parfait. Lunch and dinner offer hamburgers, salads, baked chicken and so much more. For dessert, because you aren't going to skip dessert on vacation, choose from freshly made cupcakes, ice cream, and other wonderful treats.
Then head over to the pool bar. House cocktails will definitely remind you that you are on vacation. The cast members at these resorts are always friendly, open and willing to offer many suggestions on how to enjoy not only the resort but the parks as well.
Room To Move Around
One of the other things I love about the All-Star Resorts is how they are set up. Each of the resorts has ten buildings, each perfectly themed with larger than life icons. They are all connected by a walking path and the parking lots. Which means, in the morning you can go for a walk or run then head back to the food court for a cup of coffee and a light snack or indulge in a plate of Mickey waffles.
Each of the resorts has 1,500 to 1,920 rooms. The All-Star Music has fewer since they have 215 family suites. Each of the rooms is 260 square feet (keep in mind the family suites are bigger). As many times we have stayed at these resorts, they haven't seemed to be overcrowded. Even considering how many rooms each resort has.
Don't think the All-Star Resorts are just for families. We travel to Disney without kids all of the time. It's one of our favorite spots to vacation and spend time. Why? One reason is the All-Star resorts. At the Value price point, we can splurge some on food and enjoy a few cocktails at the Pool bar and not break the budget.
