Island Side of Disney
I get it… the beach is … utopia.  But, what I have found it’s much more, it’s a total state of mind.  It’s a feeling of being footloose and enjoying a lifestyle of relaxation and fun.  Here’s something else to consider, the Island Side of Disney.  Sometimes you can’t make it to the beach, or sometimes you want a change of pace.  Trust me on this… Disney has a magical, adult, and Island side.  If you haven’t checked it out yet, you really should.

Join us as Kevin and I talk all about how to enjoy the Island Side of Disney.  From the bars, hotels, restaurants and so much more, I bet you didn’t know Disney could be this fun.

Resorts:

Imagine an escape to the Polynesian.  The resort offers a South Pacific vibe with amazing views of the fireworks at night.  Stroll the grounds at night along the torch lit paths.  Take hula lessons, play in the Lava Pool.  Have a great breakfast at the Kona Cafe, or gather around with friends and family at the Spirit of Aloha Luau dinner show.  Don’t forget about the tropical drinks at the Tambu Lounge or Trader Sams.

How about a visit to Old Key West resort?  It pays homage to our favorite town, Key West, all throughout the property.   Enjoy a great drink at the Gurgling Suitcase, or enjoy Key West inspired food at Olivia’s Cafe.
Enjoy laying by the pool and sipping on an adult beverage?  You can do that at the Disney resorts.  The pool bars offer many choices and most resorts have exclusive drinks.

Speaking of pools, head over to the water parks.  Spend a day laying on the sand, or playing in the wave pool.

Dining and Drinks:
Big River Grille offers a great menu of locally crafted beer.  Enjoy a flight and a burger.  Who says you can’t enjoy great craft beer while in Disney?

Coral Reef restaurant in Epcot makes you truly feel like you are under the sea.  Watch the fish swim by as you enjoy a great meal and handcrafted cocktails.

The best place to wander around, with a drink in hand, is Disney Springs.  Start at Dockside Margaritas and end up at Raglan Road.  You will find entertainment, food, and shopping all along the way.

Did you know you can enjoy a drink while visiting the parks?  At Epcot, you can drink around the world, or time your visit to one of the many festivals held throughout the year.  While in Hollywood Studios stop by the Time Out Lounge.  Of course, Animal Kingdom offers many places to stop and pick up a drink as you explore the different parts of the world.

Entertainment:
Jungle Cruise… does it remind you of the Conch Train in Key West?

Fishing and Boating:Rent a boat and go out on Bay Lake.  Did you know Disney World is home to the largest fleet of pleasure boats?

Or, head back in time and ride an Amphicar at Disney Springs.  A fun way to explore the other side of Disney Springs.

Try your luck fishing.  In the mid-1960’s, Bay Lake was stocked with bass and have multiplied since then.  Today, you can try to catch (and release) these fish.  Well, not those exact fish, but their relatives.  They run around 2 to 8 pounds.  You can head out with a guide or fish in the canals at Fort Wilderness.

Best part about an Island Side of Disney trip?  If you stay on property, free transportation between the resorts, the parks, and Disney Springs.
