There seems to be a cult following for doughnuts, and for a very good reason. There are doughnuts, and then there are Voodoo Doughnuts. If you are lucky enough to live next to a Voodoo Doughnuts, you simply must rush to the nearest one. If not, then check out Voodoo Doughnuts City Walk the next time you are in Orlando. History The original Voodoo Donuts opened in 2003 in Portland, Oregon. Since then, they have opened six more locations. Based on this popularity you will truly understand why you will probably stand in line for one of these sweet and decadent treats. This fast-growing West Coast chain's first appearance East of the Mississippi is at Universal's City Walk. Funky The decor and the whole vibe of the store is ... funky. It starts right outside the front door with the huge doughnut throne. Make sure you take lots and lots of pictures to share to all of those not lucky enough to be with you. Inside the store, you will see art commissioned by several artists. The stained glass panels on the left and the right are of Voodoo Doughnuts founders, Kenneth "Cat Daddy" Pogson and Tres Shannon. The center panel is of the former CEO Robert "Lobster" Ludwig who died of brain cancer in January 2015. Note the mural above the kitchen is made entirely of duct tape. Now the DoughnutsTheir motto "sinfully delicious, unconventional line-up of fried creations" sums of the many choices you have. For example, you can choose from the: Voodoo Doll - a doughnut with chocolate frosting, which is impaled by a pretzel stake and whose head "bleeds" raspberry jelly. or the Tangfastic - a doughnut with vanilla frosting dipped in Tang and marshmallows. You will want to review the menu before arriving, so you can have an idea of what you want before getting to the front counter. But, as these doughnuts sell out pretty quickly, have a second or third choice in mind. Here is a sneak peek at the menu. But, you can always choose from the awesome doughnut merry-go-round you see when you first enter the store. It was mesmerizing indeed. In the end, we chose our doughnuts and headed outside to enjoy them. These need to be enjoyed quickly. A cup of coffee and a Voodoo Doughnut was the perfect way to start our day at Universal City Walk. Check out the merry-go-round of doughnuts. Trust me, you will be mesmerized! Share the knowledge
